Our Indian Valley Business began in 1977 when the Tucker & Wilson families purchased Curriers Market, the former "Z" Market in the Indian Valley Shopping Center in Greenville. Edgar Wilson, a former manager for Safeway Stores and his wife Carol an explosives expert were joined by their daughter Centella, who was a Weights and Measures Inspector, and her husband Kenneth, a Television Director. Additionally the Tuckers children Andrew, Nathan and Nicholas joined the firm. Nathan Tucker is active with the firm and is currently the store director. Centella is active as the firms Chief Financial officer. Edgar and Carol retired in 1990, and Edgar is an ombudsman for Evergreen, actively inspecting the stores operation nearly daily, (Thanks Dad!)
On occasion some of the many Evergreen Family grandchildren can be spotted, learning work habits and learning about the grocery store business.
The store was named Evergreen to honor the beautiful natural forest environment that surrounds Indian Valley.
The companies 'by-line' "Serving Beautiful Indian Valley" was pretty much stolen from Ms. Angie Adrien a former real estate magnate, businessperson, and really good friend.
Kenneth Tucker the current Chief Executive Officer of the company, Evergreen Markets Inc, says Evergreen IGA has a mission to provide the highest possible quality and variety for the Evergreens community, Indian Valley. Presently the company provides Indian Valley with "For Goodness Sakes Bakery" a laundrymat located next to the store, as well as a feed and hay, relatively unique for a supermarket.
The store employs many long time grocery professionals well known to Indian Valley Residents.
